How to fully uninstall Gmod: AKA why dont uninstall button, uninstall addons too valve?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 12:19 AM PDT

This is probably old news for some, but as I just found out in a different post I made, some people don't know how to uninstall the addons after uninstalling the game. Im not trying to patronize here.

Ok, we've all been there, you just got a new game, or maybe you wanna clear up some space on your pc so u look down your list of games. You find gmod, and remember the fun you had, but maybe its been awhile since you last played it, and you dont really need the 70 gigs of addons taking up space. So you uninstall the game. Simple as that. Only to find out that, nope, you still have 70 gigs of addons, (silly you).

For only god knows why, the uninstall button only removes base game, but thankfully removing the leftover file space, is easy. Just go to your file explorer, and click this pc, and follow thru this path.

(or whatever drive its on not always C) C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

When here it takes you to the files of your installed steam games, and any left over files from uninstalled games. I, as someone who rotates between games alot, occasionally clear out the leftovers in here for some space. NOTE|This step is to be done after you uninstall gmod with steam| You literally just click the Gmod file and hit delete.

The reason you do it after uninstalling gmod is for two reasons, one: if you are only wanting to uninstall addons and not the whole game you go into the gmod folder and delete the addon folder. Doing that is pointless tho because next time you boot gmod, it will still remember what u are subbed to and just reinstall it all back. And two: if you do want to completely uninstall it and just do the good ol' delete, steam often freaks out cuz its like "this game is supposed to be installed wtf update it stuffs wrong"

I wouldn't be surprised if a post describing similar is already on here, but I'm not apart of this community, I just sorta typed this out cuz Im bored and this is useful information <3

Tips on how to make a server more popular

    Posted: 06 Jul 2019 12:40 AM PDT

So I dont know if this post is against the rules because I'm not advertising just asking how to make my favorite server more popular. This server has reopened and closed a couple times each time because we could not get a active playerbase. I really dont want it to die again because it's a fun server with a couple awesome people. Any tips for advertising a server and getting a more active player base for one. Thank you for any suggestions.

Do I need a microphone to play?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2019 06:18 PM PDT

Considering getting the game on steam. Could I just join popular multiplayer servers without knowing people and not have to play with a mic to be functional in games like prop hunt and TTT?

Would anyone appreciate a DarkRP server with no microtransactions?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2019 07:13 AM PDT

I've been frustrated with the trend of DarkRP servers. I remember I used to be able to find servers that weren't bloated to the extreme, and had decent gameplay. Now it's all OP lightsaber VIP+++++ where gameplay equates to getting killed by unbalanced gameplay/weapons.

I am sure many agree, but that's not the point.

I want to try a different type of server for no reason other than to have a good server to play on from time to time.

I am thinking a level or time system to "grind" up to what would be the VIP jobs and other jobs. Perhaps a semi-realistic approach where making money is a challenge, some light RP happens, money is hard to make and getting raided by, say PD is a legitimate challenge. And, of course, no paid admin.

Would anyone actually be interested in that type of server? I don't know if it's worth launching or not, as it would take dozens of hours to prepare.

    GPU usage on 20-30%

    Posted: 05 Jul 2019 10:34 AM PDT

My GPU usage sits at around 30% on GMOD-I play mostly TTT.

I have an i5 6600k at 4.7 ghz and gtx 1060 oc'd +100 mhz on core and +50 on memory.

Is this just a really CPU heavy game, to the point where its a bottleneck?
