How do I get into this game?

Hello,

I purchased GMOD last summer because I knew it was a popular game, but I really have had difficulty getting into the game. I don't understand the singleplayer mode and have difficulty with the multiplayer (mostly because I am using a mobile hotspot and most servers require me to download maps — which can take a long time). So, what do you usually do in GMOD? Are there any good singleplayer gamemodes? What about universal maps for the multiplayer modes (so I can download them ahead of time)? Any advice on how to play it — is it supposed to be like Minecraft creative?

Help with conection issues

So, i'm having problems connecting in servers on gmod.

My first problem is that it takes too long to connect, and when it finishes loading the time on the session expired and i automatically disconnect.

My second problem is, when i finally get connected to a sever, dark rp for example, my character does not move, i just get stuck and the server room looks to be empty, with no one playing, and them.... I get disconnected again.

Does any one have a solution for that, or my laptop is just too trash for this game? And my internet is 30GB but it doesn't seem enough. I don't have connection problems in any other game so i don't know may be is my laptop.

Mouse problem

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

When in game, the mouse lags around a lot. I'll open the spawn menu, and the cursor will be invisible and lag for around 4 seconds, and then it will reappear but it still lags. In the menu it lags as well.

I've tried the set priority high in task manager and I'm on raw input.

Computer specs are good the issue only started a couple of days ago

I've downloaded anddons to my server with the command line to my collection but i want to translate those addons, how can i ?

I've found the .gma files but i didn't found any .cfg file in there and it seems that no one already asked for it, any helps?

Combine don't work

Basically the combine soldiers and anything made using the combine as a base don't work. They do run up to you but they don't hold weapons and don't punch. Any ideas?

I'd like to make some short animated videos. I've used Daz3D before but I'm wondering if a tool like gmod of SFM would be easier.
