Game crashes when i join a certain server Posted: 03 Jan 2020 12:56 AM PST this doesn't happen with any other server. It's a sandbox server that i played on frequently for around 3 days. It's a map pack that provides every rendition of the map gm_construct throughout the game's history. However, the map gm_flatgrass is basically gm_construct's equally-popular brother, and, from my understanding, that map has went through many changes and renditions as well. Help getting my game working Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:04 PM PST So I play on nothing but garnet darkrp. I'm trying to get on rn and I cant find the server. Like it dissapeared. I tried to go to the steam setting and verify integrity of the game files, it successfully did that. I try again and it looks like a lot more servers are showing up now. But... no garnet. How to improve addon performance? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:56 AM PST Here's the TL;DR. Adding lots of mods causes Garry's mod to stutter a lot. Is there a way to get around this? Here's the details: say you have 200 addons installed, any time a voice dialoge is loaded, the game will stutter until that voice clip is cached. However, the game will no longer stutter upon successively replaying or loading that same voice clip or sound file. This same behavior applies to all models, textures, and sounds in the game. I still don't understand what exactly is going on "under the hood". I do know that a few years back, the game handled addon loading differently. The game would freeze for a period of time until all addons were precached and ready to be used. This made playing Gmod much more smooth and less stuttery. I've been searching for a fix for this for a long time. It seems that having a light addon setup (about 80 addons max depending on size) is the best option. However, this makes dealing with large addon collections a pain in the ass. Does anyone have a solution for being able to use more than 80 addons and not have the game stuttering like a broken mess? submitted by /u/CLT1167 [link] [comments]
