| I'm quitting Garry's Mod Sandbox because it's infuriating Posted: 14 Jun 2019 09:34 PM PDT Alright, so I have like 350 hours in GMod and even though I've had a lot of fun in the game in general, I'm a sandbox player. I enjoyed the sandbox elements of Garry's Mod for some time, but actually, the sandbox is just garbage. Basically, I can imagine doing stuff in it and fantasizing over that (which is what I do the most), but then I try doing it, and it fucks up, and I don't want to make everything again, so I shut down GMod and the cycle repeats. You see, I like the sandbox because it has absolutely infinite creative potential, I've always dreamed of making buildings, systems, land and air vehicles, drones, screens... But now I beg of you to tell me how the fuck am I supposed to do anything past basic contraptions if the fucking vanilla Weld tool is made out of jelly and doesn't work properly most of the time, like the dozens of vanilla tools the game provides? None of them work properly. And in order to fix it, you have to go to the Workshop and get addons that don't always work better than the vanilla stuff and that often aren't compatible with game features such as saving and duping and even just using the god damn physgun over it. And even it they were compatible, the problem would still exist because they aren't compatible with most other addons and vanilla tools anyways. So even when the addon tools and stuffs work, all those arguments always make them not worth using anyways. The result is that I can't weld more than 4 fucking props together or add some other constraint to any of them without having them permanently frozen in order to have a chance to make them work or, god forgive you, unfreezing them because they have to be unfrozen to make any sense (such as with a vehicle), just for the fucking physics to have a fucking panic attack and boom, my 4 props are fucking spazzing out inside the floor in the middle of the flatgrass map, the welds screwed up and there's no way I can make it return to how it was before because the only way there's a chance that stuff will work is when it's frozen in place. And sometimes, not even that. Now I've played sandbox for about 1 year and a third, and even though I've spent hours and hours and hours learning how to step up the complexity of my sandbox stuff, I got to a point where I need to AT LEAST be able to weld my shit PROPERLY for it to work. I can't do anything in the sandbox. Everything I try to do, at some point in the building just destroys itself, wasting TONS of time that I spend trying to put it together. And it's made me angry for one last fucking time. So I'm quitting this sandbox. Honestly, it's a shame that it's just unusable to me. It's got the most creative potential I've ever seen in any sandbox game, and the possibilities were endless. But I'm done exploring those possibilities. Originally, this was supposed to be a small post asking for advice on what other sandboxes or simulators I can try out now that I've quit (because I am a very big fan of sandbox games and simulators), but well, it looks like my rage took over and wrote all of that stuff up there. Anyways, if you know, by any chance, other game / simulator that I could try now that I've exiled myself from GMod, please post it so I can have fun in sandbox games again :) (no tl;dr because I prefer discussing with people that actually read my arguments) Have a very good day. | Suddenly experiencing major fps drops when using certain playermodels Posted: 14 Jun 2019 06:45 AM PDT This wasn't an issue a few days ago, I've had some minor fps drops with a few PMs but now Im experiencing it with ones I've used many times no problem. I tried uninstalling all addons I had in between but it doesn't change anything. Anyone know why this might be and/or how to fix? I have tried messing with the resolution and turning the texture and model quality down to the lowest settings. Makes no difference. [link] [comments]  | ||

My buddy has set up a TTT server, but when I attempt to join through Garry's Mod/Steam it refuses to even connect. The kicker is that I'm able to both ping his server AND access the web page he's created. I'm also able to connect to other servers, just not his. I'm not sure what to do, and was wondering if anybody else has had the same issue? TL;DR I can't connect to my buddy's server, but only through Steam. [link] [comments]  | ||
